Packing efficiently is key to a smooth backcountry experience. Here’s a quick guide to which MSR stoves and fuel canisters nest inside which pots.
Stove System Pot Nesting
- All stove system pots (except the WindBurner Fry Pan) are designed to nest:
- One 8 oz fuel canister
- The corresponding stove
- All inside the pot
This makes packing compact and convenient for integrated systems like the Reactor and WindBurner.
Conventional Stove Pot Nesting
- PocketRocket® Deluxe:
- Fits in an MSR 1-liter pot with an 8 oz fuel canister
- Also fits in:
- Titan™ Kettle 900 mL (with 4 oz or 8 oz canister)
- Titan Cup 450 mL (without fuel canister)
- Other MSR stoves with flexible fuel lines:
- Fit in MSR cookpots 1.5 liters or larger
- Exception:
- DragonFly™ stove requires a 2-liter pot or larger
- MSR XGK™ (older model):
- Does not nest due to its rigid fuel line
- Stove and fuel bottle fit well in a backpack side pocket
Fuel Canister Pot Nesting
- Most MSR pots are designed to fit at least an 8 oz fuel canister
- Always check the “Tech Specs” section on each product’s web page for:
- Pot dimensions
- Canister compatibility
