If your stove is still covered by MSR's 3-year manufacturer's warranty, we're here to help with any issues related to the Piezo Ignitor.
If the Piezo Ignitor on your MSR canister fuel stove isn't working, there are a few things that could be happening. It's important to know that high altitudes can impact the Piezo's performance because of the lower oxygen levels. Here are a couple of common issues we've encountered in our repair shop (but your situation might be different):
1. If you ignite the stove while the fuel is fully opened, it can risk burning out the Piezo's electric current. It's usually better to ignite the stove when the fuel is just open enough to hear it flowing.
2. Lighting the stove from the center (the mixer tube) instead of the top can also harm the Piezo system.
Keeping these tips in mind can help you prevent issues with the Piezo burning out. If the ignitor does stop working, the stove can still be lit, but unfortunately, we cannot repair these. If you haven't already reached out to us, please Submit a Request with us.
