The frequency with which stove cleaning and fuel pump maintenance are required for your MSR stove will vary greatly depending on the type and quality of the fuel you use, the age of the fuel, how hot you are burning the stove, and other factors. The chart below can help provide a general estimate for when to clean and perform maintenance on your stove after hours of use.

** A good quality fuel should appear clear, bright, without water, sediment or particles. If the fuel looks cloudy or has sediment at the bottom of the container, decant or filter the liquids from the solids. Look for fuel that is low in benzene, sulfur and aromatics as it will leave fewer deposits and emit less carcinogenic fumes.
