You should clean your water bag after each use. In most cases, using warm or hot soapy water is sufficient, but if there's persistent off-taste or odor to your Dromedary or DromLite bag, it may be necessary to deep clean the bag.
Regular Cleaning:
- Fill your bag mostly full with warm water, add a few drops of non-scented dish soap and seal it closed
- Agitate by shaking the bag for 30 seconds, then let it soak for 15 minutes.
- Rinse your bag thoroughly.
- Let your bag air dry completely before storing. If can help to place a kitchen whisk inside your bag while drying to increase air flow in your bag.
Deep cleaning:
- Based on the per liter volume of your bag, add ¼ Cup of baking soda to ¾ Cup of water and shake for 30 seconds. Example: for a 2L bag use ½ Cup of baking soda with 1½ Cup water.
- Add ¼ Cup lemon juice per liter to your bag, close and shake the bag for 10 seconds. Vent the bag by loosening cap away from face. Caution: When adding lemon juice to baking soda, effervescence occurs and will cause pressure to build in a capped bag.
- Re-seal the bag and repeat shaking and venting three times. Expel as much air as possible, cap bag, and soak for 20 minutes.
- Dump solution and rinse the bag thoroughly three times with hot water.
- Let your bag air dry completely before storing. If can help to place a kitchen whisk inside your bag while drying to increase air flow in your bag.
